Extreme heat is building into Central Texas, and some of us could see our first 100° day of the year as we end out the workweek. One bit of good news is that the forecast doesn’t look completely hot and dry, as some spotty rain chances will be moving in Friday and into the weekend.

For Friday, we will once again see high temperatures make it into the mid-to-upper 90s, with heat index values ranging between 100-105° for most areas of Central Texas.

A tropical wave moving west across the Gulf will bring us some spotty afternoon rain chances, mainly across our southeastern counties.

We don’t expect widespread rain Friday or into the weekend, but spotty tropical style showers will be in place. With these slight rain chances, and the high pressure not being as strong, temperatures will be slightly lower throughout the weekend. Keep in mind though, with the very high humidity rates, heat index values will still top out over 100° for most of us.

High pressure will build back into our area early next week, causing temperatures to once again climb back into the upper 90s. Some of us could top out over 100° during the middle of next week.
