What Will You See?

From Earth, the International Space Station will look like bright, fast moving, dot in the sky. The International Space Station (ISS) is visible because it reflects sunlight. The ISS is only visible at dusk and dawn because the Sun is still illuminating it from orbit, even though it is dark on the ground.

The ISS orbits the Earth at 17,500 mph, so the bright dot that you see will be moving very quickly. The ISS orbits the earth every 90 minutes!

For reference, 90° is directly overhead. Due to the ISS moving over Texas later in the evening, it is only visible for 3 minutes.
