Nice Weekend Weather!
Next Round of Rain Arrives Monday
Saturday should be a sunny day, but some cloudiness returns Sunday ahead of our next storm system arriving Monday. Although the bulk of the rain will fall on Monday itself, we could see a few scattered showers late Sunday afternoon and overnight Sunday into Monday.
The most widespread and heaviest rain will arrive during the daytime hours on Monday and the rain may take the majority of the daytime hours to clear the area. We’re expecting widespread rain with locally heavy downpours and some thunderstorms too. There’s a chance for a stray strong storm or two with gusty winds and hail, but the severe weather threat is very low Monday. Still, much of the I-35 corridor will experience heavy rain which may snarl Thanksgiving travel! We’ll shake the rain late afternoon and early in the evening with about an inch of rain set to fall. There’s a lot of uncertainty with how widespread the rain will be and how long it lasts, so there’s some wiggle room in the forecast for rainfall totals exceeding an inch in some spots.
Monday’s rain clears out early in the evening with a cold front swinging through Tuesday dropping our temperatures in a big way. We’re in the upper 60s and lower 70s Monday and Tuesday, but we’ll drop temperatures into the low-to-mid 60s Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday making for a below average day of temperatures on Thanksgiving itself. There’s a chance for a bit of rain Thanksgiving weekend, but Thanksgiving itself should be dry. Rain chances may start to creep up Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but it’s far too early for specifics. A big shot of cold Arctic air will move through the country, but it’s unclear if that cold air will push into Central Texas. We’ll keep you updated, but don’t be surprised if there is another issue with traveling back home Thanksgiving weekend!
