RIESEL, Texas (KWTX) - This is the second year 5 Loaves and 2 Fish Food Pantry has participated in Food for Families and they’re ready to break last year’s record.

The pantry set a goal of 10,000 pounds in 2024 and recorded 25,000 pounds.

Cyd Collins, the Director of 5 Loaves and 2 Fish Food Pantry tells KWTX this year’s goal is 25,000 pounds and they hope to surpass that!

As for what you could donate: boxed goods such as mac and cheese, hamburger helper, canned fruits and vegetables and peanut butter.

The largest one-day food drive in the state holds a special place in Collins’ heart.

“There was a time that I had a need and I was blessed by our local food pantry to help sustain us through a rough patch my husband passed away and so I love to be able to give back,” she said.
